NEW Chore Chart with a Purpose

Chore Chart with a Purpose

Finding a school chore chart in one of my Dollar store trips, encouraged to revive our chore chart system. With the kids ages more varied it can get a bit challenging but I am not ready to give up! The responsibility poster from Flowers of Islam adds a thoughtful purpose for my lil and (not so lil anymore)  helpers :) It helps to fix the attitude and intention.

Helping around the house is not only a Sunnah but a big step towards accepting and fulfilling responsibility! Wouldn't you agree?

As you can guess the chores are filled in with a dry erase marker as I did not remove the plastic cover of the Job Chart for convenience of erasing daily and durability.

Ummi and Abi are added in it too so its just for the kids. So each individual gets 3 main big chores for the day...........On a side note Baba's chores are random too depending on his availability due to his work and busy schedule.

What about Saturday and Sunday ? You may ask.... Our weekends are quite random and unpredictable we play those by the ear.....Also kids don't get to CHOOSE their chores on the weekends (if we end up being home all day :):):) )

For the rest of the week I have a reference chart as a reminder of what needs to go on the chart and on what days on a regular basis.

You can see our previous post showing this and other posters by Flowers of Islam in our home for teaching importance of cleanliness and responsibility.

I pray that our children become responsible individuals that can own and fulfill their responsibilities in and outside the realm of their homes with the correct purpose and continued diligencs. Ameen

Felt Hand Flower

Personalized Flower Brooch

I saw this post at Handmade beginnings and knew that I had to make it with Lil Muallimah. We actually ended up making 2 in one go as Lil Muallimah wanted to gift it to her lil neighbour friend too Mashallah.

Lil Muallimah LOVED the idea wanted to do it all by herself by needed help in making it secure. I really should do more sewing projects with her so she can be more independent Inshallah.

We used the tracing of Lil Muallimahs hands and Lil Muallim # 3 so it was a truly personalized project for us. The added touch of cuteness. Mashallah

If you do not have a toddler handy you can do what the original poster of this activity did here :) She has complete step by steps in pictures too.

Here's what ours looks like. Colors were chosen by Lil Muallimah ofcourse.

I don't have pictures of the second one but we actually used a kids safe safety pin for that one, you know the one that has a lock. Like the one here.

Popsicle Stick Crafts

FUN WITH POPSICLE STICKS

Lil Muallimah and I have dabbled in popsicle stick crafts. After making some typical geometric shaped baskets using a glue gun, we went in popsicle craft frenzy. Infact Lil Muallimah started craving to make things on her own. So I opened pinterest for ideas and voila! Following are some of her copied and original ideas.... Mashallah!

She made up a story about these characters while making these popscile puppets.

Will share pics of the ones we made together too.....Once I find the pics on my hard drive !!!!! :(

Found Poetry

EXPLORING A POETIC FORM

The first time I had heard of this when Lil Muallim 1 got it as an assignment for his online grdae 9 English course. To be honest we all enjoyed the process. I am pretty sure I have images of the very first Found Poetry project in our house somewhere.......but for now I can share Lil Muallim 2's take on it.

Inacse you are still wondering what found poetry is..... In simple words its taking chunks of existing text and putting them together  as desired to create new meanings. Truly a very creative form of poetry.

Presenting Lil Muallim 2's 1st Found Poetry:

(he got his text snippets from Pottery Barn catalogues that he found)

I just LOVE the way the rearrangement can change the phrase conotations. This is one way of doing found poetry, would really like to explore more. You can learn more about it and ideas from homeschooling-ideas and poetry4kids
