Color Wheel Activity Part 1

COLOR WHEEL THE AWESOME WAY

Another COOL Montessori inspired activity. I found this activity with printable on Mama Jenn. Once you have the print outs, put them inside a protective sheet and let the fun begin. The best part is the even the lil ones can do it all by themselves.....:)

You Need:
Color Wheel printable in protective sheet
Food coloring
dropper
water
tooth picks for mixing (one for each color)
Sheet of paper towel

We did this activity a little differently from as suggested in Mama Jenn, because we had only one dropper and didn't to go through rinsing the dropper at every step.

Lil Mualliamh did the Primary and Secondary Color sheet, while Lil Muallim #2 did the tertiary colors one. We actually did this activity twice improving upon our method.

IMPORTANT:

I would recommend doing it in the day time so kids can enjoy the colors better.

Add 2-3 drops of water in each color circle.

Add 5 drops of water in the ones with blue and red to get clear difference

Here's how we went about it ....:):):)

Leave it a while on the sheet and the colors spread and blend to look like this...

Lil Muallimah exclaimed "How does Allah do that ?"

The colors look the best when the paper towel dries out.......

SUBHANALLAH

SO MUCH FUN!!!!!

Go grab your printable from Mama Jenn

Lil Muallim was doing his Math during this time and was feeling quite left out from this FUN ........

He later got to do it too and so did Lil Muallim # 2 AGAIN!!!!

and this time we left the paper towel on the sheet till it dried and the result was another WOW !!! But EVEN A BIGGER WOW!!!

Check it out.

The colors were not only much clearer they just got soaaed in till they all  met in the middle making a complete circle with fractions of colors!!!!!

Sounds like a math activity coming up....

I will be actually posting about an advanced Color Wheel Activity with Lil Muallim # 1. So stay tuned for Color Wheel Activity Part 2

This is wonderful ... I love the idea of using the paper towels to blend the colors! What amazing variations! I featured your post at the Living Montessori Now Facebook page and pinned it to my DIY Sensorial Extensions Board at http://pinterest.com/debchitwood/diy-sensorial-extensions/

Oh wow! Thanks Deb :) Isn't it cool how one activity from a blog evolves into so much more. I am hoping to do the part 2 soon. Will post how it goes.
