GLOBE TROTTING WITH COINS

Just recently My Lil Maullims got hold of something they really wanted for years. Their Abi's coin collection from his childhood. Well, their Amma just sent it from back home. I saw it as a perfect opportunity to turn in it into a learning experience. 

I asked Lil Muallim # 1 to sort the coins by countries

and Lil Muallim # 2 wrote the names of countries on slips of paper and placed them with each pile. For spellings he referred to the map from the following. For added challenge he had to find the country on the map by himself, ( with some hints from Ummi at times :))

 

Next he sorted them all out by Continents

Then I had Lil Muallim find and write the capitals, currency and language of all these countries.

Finally Lil Muallim #1 and Lil Muallim # 2 raced to find all the countries and their capitals on our big wall map.....

they did ask me to place it on the floor though :) They looked so cute scrambling over the map on the floor Mashallah :)
